I've been nervous about her counts since extracting 200cc of blood 2 weeks ago. Viki seemed pale to me (not to my husband) and she complained of headaches several times this past two weeks. Of course, I freaked out and my emotions with "what if" thoughts started to take control again. Being a mom of a sick child can never feel at ease.  I guess this is simply because of what we have gone through.

After performing a PE, our NP, Ms. Deborah said that Viki looked fabulous. She also added she just wished we can fast-forward a few more months to show me better counts. I agreed that only good counts can comfort me.  Her lab came back with wonderful results and her chemistry looked stable as well. So no changes on medications for now. Viki gained 2kg (4.5lbs) and got 4cm (1.75 inches) taller since the transplant. I'm so relieved because we were warned that bone marrow transplant can have a negative effect on child's physical growth.  It looks like Viki is growing at a normal pace.

Now that Viki is on her way to a full recovery, I'm faced with new challenges.
I'll need to carefully balance between in  1) Maintaining her physical and mental health, 2) Loving her more with discipline,  3) Catching up with school curriculum and teaching her social skills/manners and have her ready for upcoming school year.  Nothing seems easy but, I know we can do it!!
