Day +125
Clinic day: flush port /phlebotomy / aerosolized pentamidine

Recap on clinic visit
  • WBC: 2.51
  • HGB: 9.8
  • Platelet: 185
  • Increase Cyclosporine to 1.0 ml  twice daily
  • Stop "Bactrim" (pneumonia prevent medicine) - all 3 counts were down this week and the Drs think that Viki is sensitive to Bactrim which has a potential side effect that lowers the blood counts. As a result, they put Viki back on the aerosolized pentamidine which I also prefer. We ended up getting aerosolized pentamidine as well as phlebotomy today. It was a long clinic day.

Viki now looks like a cute boy. Always loves to pose for pictures though.

These are some pictures of today's procedures.
Accessing her port and flushing it.
Viki doing her own phlebotomy (taking out blood).
We extracted a total of 200cc today. (10cc per kilo of her weight).  Prior to BMT, Viki was in need of receiving 200cc of blood every other week for 1.5 years. Can't believe we're now doing the opposite!!!
a BIG smile with our nurse Ashley.
 Getting an aerosolized pentamidine afterwards

Viki has been playing "dress-up" a lot lately. We're just waiting to get warmer so we can take her out more often and have people over to play with her. So far she has managed well to keep herself entertained.

  2. Good to see Viki is doing well. Maybe as she gets better, she and Elijah can have a play date? Let me know anytime. Miss seeing you too.
